Baby Born At Fort Belvoir Hospital One Of Region's First 2024 Babies
It's a girl! A couple at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2024.
FORT BELVOIR, VA — In the early hours of 2024, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital welcomed one of the DC region's first babies of the year.
Scottie Greely, a girl, was the first baby born in 2024 at Fort Belvoir's Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center. The baby, weighing 7 pounds and 11 ounces, was born at 5:54 a.m. on Jan. 1 to Air Force Senior Airmen Matthew Greely and his wife, Nicole Greely.
"Scottie, the first baby born within our region, has some fortunate birth numbers," said Command Sgt. Maj. Dedraf Blash, the command senior enlisted leader at the hospital. "She was born on January 1st and weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces (7-11). You have a truly lucky baby!"

The hospital serves military members and their families. Scottie's birth was marked with a visit from the hospital's leadership team and presentation of a First Baby gift basket and Medical Center coin.
"We are so happy to include Scottie and complete our family!" said Nicole Greely.

There were 915 babies delivered at the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center in 2023. Scottie will be the first of many new additions to families on Fort Belvoir and around the DC region.
