Fairfax County Vaccine Clinics To Scale Back Hours, Then Close
Fairfax County Health Department's COVID-19 vaccine clinics will soon reduce hours and will close in mid-December.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — The two Fairfax County Health Department COVID-19 vaccine clinics will begin limiting hours and will ultimately close in mid-December.
While there were various clinic locations when COVID-19 vaccines first became widely available in 2021, there are now two clinics left: Fairfax County Government Center (12000 Government Center Pkwy, Fairfax, VA) and Gerry Hyland/South County Government Center (8350 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA).
According to the health department, hours will be reduced at these two locations to three days a week starting the week of Nov. 7. The change was attributed to vaccines being widely available from pharmacies, urgent care centers and medical providers.

The health department encourages residents to stay up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations before the holidays. All residents 6 months and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, and ages 5 and older are eligible for the bivalent booster, an updated vaccine addressing the original COVID-19 strain and more common omicron subvariants. Vaccinations along with normal preventative measures are recommended by health officials as seasonal viruses spread.
