Good Hygiene Helps Students Feel Confident At School
Help Assistance League Provide Hygiene Kits For Low Income Students

Assistance League of Northern Virginia partners with several Title 1 Elementary Schools across the area to give disadvantaged students better opportunities to achieve their potential. The nonprofit’s programs provide many basic essentials that strain family budgets. While most people take everyday toiletry items for granted, school counselors have identified multiple items their students lack to be well groomed and maintain good personal hygiene. To meet this need, Assistance League has been providing hygiene kits with items needed for good grooming to 5th or 6th grade students as part of their school’s hygiene lessons. Having the right supplies and knowing how to use them is a terrific boost for a student’s self-confidence.
Assistance League of Northern Virginia has been celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year by inviting the community to share the joy of helping someone in need by making donations from its ongoing monthly wish lists. The August wish list includes personal care items such as deodorant, soap, hair brushes, toothbrushes, and washcloths that will be part of the hygiene kits distributed to partner schools for their upper-grade students, and the zippered bags needed to pack the toiletry items.
