Gum Springs Trail Addition Planned By Park Authority
The Fairfax County Park Authority held a community briefing at the planning site of a Gum Springs trail with a boardwalk portion.

GUM SPRINGS, VA — A community walk and briefing was held over the weekend at the future site of the Gum Springs trail.
The Fairfax County Park Authority is planning a project to add a trail connecting Martin Luther King, Jr. Park to the tidal wetlands near Little Hunting Creek. The trail, approximately 642 linear feet, will start on the western side of the playground and end with an observation platform on the wetlands. The trail will include paved asphalt trail and boardwalk portions.
A conceptual design of the trail has been completed. The permitting process will take place in 2023 and 2024, while construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2025.
