Reader Praises Inova Mount Vernon Hospital For Rehabilitation Services
A reader shares gratitude for Inova Mount Vernon Hospital and its staff from a recent stay at the rehabilitation center.

Although it is only fair to say that INOVA Seminary Road Hospital has probably saved my life at least three times in the past three months and that the whole INOVA system is a blessing for our community, I want to make the Patch audience aware of a service of which many may not be aware.
After two months in hospital beds, I was lucky enough to be sent to the Mount Vernon INOVA Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Center at 2501 Parker’s Lane for ten days.
As a 100 % service disabled veteran, I have experienced more rehabilitation than most people could even imagine, but I have never known a place as wonderful as Mount Vernon Hospital.

If you require intensive rehabilitation, you will at Mount Vernon from the finest rehab specialists one can imagine. But don’t go there if you aren’t willing to work hard. In my ten days, they took me from being barely able to stand to being a master of the walker and pretty good with a cane. I was also even able to walk some without assistance. Furthermore, they taught me important skills like the best way to get up from a fall on my own and even how to instruct someone to help me.
Mount Vernon takes some of our most seriously injured citizens, including amputees. What’s more, everyone is so upbeat that one cannot help but to overcome depression. I think the great attitude of all the staff has to do a lot with knowing they are a team that provides world class care.

I wish that no PATCH reader should ever require rehabilitation, but rest assured that if you ever find yourself in a de habilitating situation from an injury or illness, Mount Vernon will make you aware of how lucky we are to have such a great service in Northern Virginia.
