Arts Council of the Valley Moves Chalk Art Street Festival to Turner Pavilion on Sunday
Arts Council of the Valley's Chalk It Up! for the Arts festival has been moved to Sunday, June 15 in the Turner Pavilion.
HARRISONBURG, VA – With rain in the forecast for June 14’s Best.Weekend.Ever., Arts Council of the Valley (ACV) will move the Saturday street art component of its Chalk Art Festival to the Turner Pavilion in downtown Harrisonburg on Sunday, June 15. Come see chalk artists at work - rain or shine - Sunday between 11 am and 5 pm.
“Chalk art and rain don’t play well together,” explained event co-organizer Robert Mott. “By moving to Sunday, we have the benefit of a covered pavilion - and chalk artists can start their creations a bit earlier in the day.”
Artists will create their own chalk masterpieces in marked spots; the festival will also feature large-scale drawings by experienced street painters Mott and Jennifer Chaparro. Visitors who want to have a hand in the fun will be invited to create small chalk works.

begins with a demo for creating chalk artwork on the ground with 3D effects and then guides participants to create their own designs.
