2 Injured When Dulles Airport Police Segway Catches Fire: Reports
A segway fire at Dulles International Airport prompted a precautionary evacuation of the main terminal Saturday, according to reports.
DULLES, VA — A police segway caught fire in Washington Dulles International Airport's main terminal on Saturday, injuring two officers and prompting an evacuation, according to multiple reports.
The battery-powered vehicle caught fire around 7:30 p.m. near the Egyptair ticket counter, an airport spokesperson told ABC 7. Fire crews responded to the terminal to contain the smoke and vent it from other parts of the terminal, the station reported.
Video from the terminal shows smoke rising from the vehicle as it burned near door 1 of the departures area.

A spokesperson with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority told WTOP all passengers were evacuated from the departures area as a safety precaution.
Fire crews completed smoke ventilation by 9 p.m., and all passengers were allowed back in the building, reports said.

Two airport police officers suffered injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, NBC Washington reported.
