HERNDON, VA -- The 39th annual Herndon Festival is weeks away, and it's at a new location. Here's everything you need to know about this community-wide celebration:

When: May 30-June 2

Where: Northwest Federal Credit Union, 200 Spring Street. Note that this is a different location from last year: "In 2017, the Town entered into an agreement with Comstock Corporation to redevelop several parcels in the core of the downtown," according to the festival website. "Among other arrangements, the sale of the property which housed the festival carnival will be under construction beginning in early 2019. The reduced footprint and construction challenges led staff to seek an alternative site."
Cost: Free and open to the public (although some activities will carry a charge).

How to get there: Take the free shuttle bus, as parking will be limited around the festival.
About: "The four-day festival, which is produced by the Town of Herndon’s Parks and Recreation Department with assistance from area civic organizations and businesses, will feature entertainment on two stages, a carnival, a children’s hands-on art area, arts & crafts show, business expo, 10K/5K races and fitness expo, and an eclectic variety of top-quality food vendors. ... The full entertainment lineup is here. "Festival attendees are welcome to bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the performances at any of our stage areas," according to the festival website.
Weather: "While most events are held rain or shine, in the rare event of severe weather, the Festival may close temporarily and then re-open. Umbrellas, ponchos, etc. are good to have on hand. Should it be necessary, announcements will be made from each of the Festival stages regarding emergency procedures.
