VA Man Already Facing 2nd Degree Murder Charges Cited With 4 Additional Felonies

HERNDON, VA — An 18-year-old McLean man already facing a second degree murder charge for Friday's fatal shooting in Herndon received four additional felony charges, according to the Herndon Police Department.

On Thursday, police charged Kianmehr Shirinipaziziba with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, reckless handling of a firearm, discharge of a firearm in a public space, and shooting from a vehicle, according to authorities.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Elden Street around 9:40 p.m. after receiving calls about a disorderly man at that location. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers treated the man before taking him to a hospital, where he later died.

Shortly afterwards, Shirinipaziziba contacted police and admitted that he had shot the victim, according to authorities.

After speaking with witnesses, police charged Shirinipaziziba with second-degree murder and took him into custody.

On Tuesday morning, Shirinipaziziba was arraigned in Fairfax County General District Court, according to court records. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 18.

Shirinipaziziba had a bond hearing on Thursday morning, but remained in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center as of Thursday afternoon, according to court records.
