Accidental House Fire In Oak Hill Causes Nearly $100K In Damages
Investigators said the fire happened when a carburetor cleaner was applied to a hot intake manifold in the garage of the house in Oak Hill.

OAK HILL, VA — An accidental house fire in Oak Hill caused nearly $100,000 in damages and displaced three people, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
On Thursday just before 9 p.m., firefighters said they responded to a house fire in the 2400 block of Cypress Green Lane in the Oak Hill area of Fairfax County.
Once on scene, firefighters said a two-story, single-family home had heavy fire showing from the garage. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

Firefighters said there were three people inside the home at the time of the fire.
According to the fire department, two people were working on an SUV in the garage and trying to clean the intake manifold when the vehicle caught fire. The pair tried to put the fire out with fire extinguishers but were unsuccessful.

Firefighters said smoke alarms were present but did not alert due to the fire's location.
Investigators deemed the fire accidental and said it happened when a carburetor cleaner was applied to a hot intake manifold in the garage of the house.
The Red Cross offered assistance to the residents of the home; however, firefighters said they declined.
Firefighters said the fire caused about $11,500 in damages to the vehicle and $85,000 for the home.
