Aer Lingus to Launch New Dublin-D.C. Route in May 2015

The Ireland-based airline announced the introduction of its 9th direct transatlantic service from Dublin to Washington, D.C. Wednesday.

Aer Lingus, , is introducing the company’s ninth direct transatlantic service to Washington-Dulles International Airport beginning in May 1, 2015.

The service will provide direct flights from Dublin to Washington, D.C. four times a week. Aer Lingus hopes the move will boost capacity on transatlantic routes from San Francisco, New York and Orlando to Dublin and from Boston to Shannon.

  • A daily flight from San Francisco to Dublin, up from five weekly
  • The addition of a third daily flight from Dublin to New York from June through August
  • An increase in frequency of Orlando to Dublin flights from three to four flights per week starting May 1
  • A 20 percent increase in capacity on the Boston to Shannon route from June through August

Overall long haul capacity is anticipated to increase by 18.4 percent in the peak summer season.

“I’m pleased to announce that Aer Lingus will offer an expanded choice of destinations and value to the travelling public next summer,” said Stephen Kavanagh, Aer Lingus’ chief strategy and planning officer. “We will continue to grow our transatlantic business with the introduction of direct service from Washington.”
