Aslin Beer Company Opens Doors on September 19th

Herndon's new nanobrewery will be opening this weekend.

Brewing beer together since 2011, Andrew Kelley and Kai Leszkowicz are finally sharing their passion of craft beers with the Herndon community. Aslin Beer Company, a nanobrewery will open its doors on September 19th.

The grand opening from 11:00am to 10:00pm on Saturday will be at the brewery, which is located in Sunset Business Park at 257 Sunset Park Drive. At 12:00 p.m. Herndon’s mayor, Lisa C. Merkel will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

“The new brewery will serve up artistically crafted world-class beer made with freshly grown local ingredients, some of which that are harvested by family members,” stated the September 17th press release from Aslin Beer Company.

With the help of local investors and a partnership with their good friend Richard Thompson, brother-in-laws Kelley and Lezkowicz have worked over 6 months to construct the brewery from scratch. They have shared the responsibilities with Kelly running the business operations, Kai serving as Aslin’s brew master, and Thompson, who led the construction project.

“Everything about this place is handcrafted – from our beer, all the way to the picnic benches”, Kelley stated. “We couldn’t be more excited to open up this weekend, see all the hard work come to life, and share what we love with Herndon community.”

Opening Day Beers:

Red Invasion– Double Rye Ale – ABV 7% - 63 IBUs

This Rye-centric ale pours an outstanding crimson color with a creamy bronzed head. A generous addition of rye male highlights a spicy, crisp finish. Distinct, medium intensity spice and pine characteristics with subtle notes of floral, citrus and grapefruit.

In Memoria – Lime Kolsch – ABV 4.7% - 31 IBUs

This refreshing summer beer is a German style Kolsch made with superior pilsner malt with an Aslin Beer Co. twist. We hand zested 50 limes added Liberty and Sorachi Ace hops to the boil to give a unique mild and spicy with subtle lime, citrus, and dill characteristics. The result is a highly drinkable summer ale with hints of citrus to create a crisp, dry, and thirst quenching beer.

Deceiver – Imperial Stout – ABV 10.0% - 42.1 IBUs

This Imperial stout is extremely dark in color with flavors of coffee and chocolate and accents of raisins and fig. Don’t let the smoothness deceive you as this imperial stout is strong coming in at 10%ABV.

Standard – American IPA – ABC 6.4% - 44.4 IBUs

This American IPA is hazy gold in color, this American IPA has aggressive aromas of grapefruit/tangerine, lemon, and tropical fruit. The lighter body brings out the crispness of the hops.

Mind The Hop – Double IPA – ABC 9.5% - 145 IBUs

Juice! Simply a beer full of hops that create an amazing perception of drinking juice. This double IPA has added smoothness from the English ale yeast used to generate that powerful 10% alcohol punch. This beer is very forgiving… So much so you might forget it’s beer.

Animal (farm)House – Saison – ABC 5.9 % - 34 IBUs

This Saison is designed in the traditional style for this beer. Light color, light body with strong enter characters. Sniff away on the banana enter! Notice the lacey head as you enjoy this simple yet complex drink.

Happy Brown – Unknown – ABC 9.4 % - 90 IBUs

This wonderful accident has quickly become a hop head oddity. What started as an attempt to replicate an earlier version of this recipe turned into this happy accident. This super hop and slightly bitter beverage is complimented by the rich chocolate flavor and slight roast characters. What’s that old saying, “if it’s brown gulp it down?”

Lawnmower – Session Ale – ABC 4.75% -29 IBUs

What’s the best drink after mowing the lawn in the heat? Or raking a yard full of leaves in the fall? This session ale will allow you the pleasure of filling your weekend yard work with out the complications of intoxicated lethargy.

RTC/1857 – Witbier – ABC 6.1% - 26.6 IBUs

Another Aslin Beer Co surprise. And you thought we couldn’t cook! This wheat beer has some hand peeled naval oranges and freshly crushed coriander added to the boil. Just for you! These ingredients add a little sweet and a little spice to this light beer. Just enough to tease your tongue with each sip.
