Enjoy a Night Out at O'Sullivan's For a Noble Cause

If you need an excuse to get out for a night, here's a good one.

As if one ever needs an extra reason to want to go to a fun pub for some good food and drinks, here's one in Herndon for this Thursday night.

From 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, O'Sullivan's Irish Pub will host a special happy hour to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Stephanie Kurspahic of Herndon was inspired to organize the fundraiser to help not only her brother, but others out there just like him.

"I was inspired to get involved with LLS's Team in Training program after the organization reached out to my brother during his battle with leukemia," Kurspahic said. "I will be forever grateful for the meaningful impact that the LLS, and Team in Training in particular, had on my brother and our family."

She added, "Although my brother ultimately lost his brave battle with the disease, I pledged to commemorate him and help others fighting blood cancers with continued involvement with the LLS."

Thursday night's event at O'Sullivan's will feature live music by local musician David Thong, food and drink specials, and a raffle.

Kurspahic said, as "a show of solidarity and support," she is asking attendees to wear purple, the Team in Training's signature color. She said, that's where the event's name, "Paint the Pub Purple!" came from.

O’Sullivan’s has pledged to donate 15 percent of profits from the happy hour to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  In addition, 100 percent of the proceeds from raffle ticket sales will benefit the LLS.  Raffle tickets are $5 for one ticket, $10 for three tickets, or $20 for 10 tickets.

Kurspahic said, due to the generous sponsorship of many businesses, a variety of prizes will be offered in the raffle.

Artist Harun Mehmedinovic, who was recently featured in Vogue Italia, has donated a signed and archival-quality print from his "Bloodhoney" collection.  The print will be raffled off in a custom frame.

The Pedro Sauer Total Fitness Academy in Sterling has donated one hour of private
Krav Maga training with instructor Brad Burnette, for one raffle prize winner plus a friend, valued at $150. Kurspahic said, Burnette boasts accolades such as a black belt instructor certification in Krav Maga, a 2in Krav Maga, a second-degree black belt in combat defense systems, a brown belt in Judo (under Maurice Allen), and a blue belt in Braziian Jiu-Jitsu (under Pedro Sauer.)  In addition, Burnette is also a certified advanced law enforcement instructor.

Also appealing to fitness lovers, Beloved Yoga in Reston is offering one month of free  yoga.

Additional prizes include gift cards for Il Fornaio, Mon Ami Gabi, Bow Tie Cinemas and Midtown Jewelers, all located in Reston Town Center.

O'Sullivan's is located at 754 Elden St. To RSVP, read more information, and see who else is planning to attend, visit the Facebook page set up for the "Paint the Pub Purple" event.
