Ex-Flight Attendant Treks Through Herndon In Honor Of 9/11 Victims

HERNDON, VA — Retired flight attendant Paul "Paulie" Veneto was spotted in Herndon on Thursday making his admirable journey on foot to honor his friends killed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks almost two decades ago.

"What an honor it was to welcome Paul 'Paulie' Veneto to the Town of Herndon as he continues his journey with Paulie's Push," the Herndon Police Department posted to Facebook.

Pushing an airline beverage cart from Dulles International Airport to the Pentagon, Veneto said his goal is to honor and remember the flight crews who battled terrorists in the skies nearly 21 years ago.

According to his website, he began his walk Thursday with a tarmac escort along a route representing the flight path of American Airlines Flight 77.

He'll push his cart over the next three days, finishing at the Pentagon on Sept. 11.

It was on that infamous day that Veneto, a former United Airlines flight attendant, scheduled a day off only to watch the horrors unfold on the sidelines.
