Expect Road Closures Saturday Due To Herndon High Homecoming Parade

Police will be closing a number of streets in Old Town for most of Saturday morning due the Herndon High School Homecoming Parade.

HERNDON, VA — Motorists should probably steer clear of Elden Street in Old Town Herndon on Saturday morning if they want to avoid delays caused by the Herndon High School Homecoming Parade.

Town of Herndon Police will begin closing streets at 7:30 a.m., to make way for the parade, which is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. At 6:30 a.m., police will also be closing Locust Street between Elden and Center streets. Streets will be open for local access only and police may divert motorists.

The following streets will be closed to traffic at their intersections with Elden Street at 7:30 a.m.:

  • Ferndale Avenue
  • Main Drive
  • School Street
  • Peachtree Street
  • Spruce Street
  • Grace Street
  • Center Street

All streets will reopen to traffic from 12-1 p.m., once the parade is completed.

Parade participants will be gathering Saturday morning at Herndon Middle School, which is located at 901 Locust St. Once the parade begins, participants will march east on Elden Street toward the center of town. The parade route ends after the grandstand on Park Street near Old Town Hall.

Parade parking will be available in the municipal surface lot at Station Street and the Herndon Municipal Center lot.
