Field Hockey: Hornets Top Wildcats 4-2
Herndon High wins Patch's Concorde District Game of the Week
The Herndon Hornets field hockey team defeated the Centreville Wildcats 4-2 on Thursday.
The matchup, which Patch readers voted as the Concorde District Game of the Week, pitted two teams with winning records against each other. Herndon improved its record to 7-3 with Thursday's win, while Centreville now stands at 8-3.
Four different players posted goals in the Hornets' win: Gillian Linden, Taylor Stone, Katherine Wilson and Jamie Wright. Sofia Palacios tallied three assists, while Margaret Purnhagen had two saves to secure the Hornets' lead.

Katherine Zempolich scored both goals for the Wildcats.
The Hornets will host Mount Vernon (8-2-1) at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Wildcats will host T.C. Williams (4-6) at 4 p.m. today.
