HERNDON, VA — A Herndon bicyclist had to be hospitalized after he was confronted by a group of teenagers and then assaulted by one of them, police say.

The victim was riding his bike home in the early morning hours of Sept. 12 in the 1100 block of Autumn Haze Court when he was approached by group of teenagers, according to a report from the Herndon Police Department.

One of them then assaulted him to the point that he needed to be taken to Reston Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, the report states.

Police say they arrested a 17-year-old boy who is currently being held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.
