Herndon Cares invites Herndon/Reston community members to join its growing grassroots movement that delivers compassion and supports local businesses at the same time. On Tuesday, May 21st, Herndon Cares purchased 1,317 delicious takeout dinners from local restaurants and
provided them to neighbors in need. This brings the new program’s meal total to 6,282—an accomplishment thanks to 12 partnering faith communities, 18 participating restaurants, over 100
volunteers, and over 100 individual donors. Donations may be made online at www.HerndonCares.org. Friends donating $50 or more receive a Herndon Cares yard sign to share their community spirit. They also make a direct impact on the lives of local restaurant owners and their staff as well as area families struggling to put food on their tables.

As one kind dinner recipient shared:

I picked up the meal and it was wonderful. I wanted to thank you so much - not just from the factor of having a nice meal, but emotionally - it is a great boost.

It also helps to put things in perspective. Sometimes, it's natural to just be down on everything and everyone, and then to see what you and your organization do - gives one hope, and makes one appreciate the good in human beings….

Thank you so much. Your kindness is a slice of heaven.

Herndon Cares thanks all who continue to support its innovative program that helps to keep the community viable. To request a meal, become a partner or participating business, or make a donation, please visit www.HerndonCares.org.
