Herndon High Wrestling Gears Up for 2013-2014 Season

The Herndon wrestling team opens its 2013-2014 campaign in a little over a month. 

After an 8-10 record and 5th place district finish last year, the Hornets look to improve on last year’s performance.

As part of the season kickoff, Herndon will hold an open scrimmage at the high school on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. Following the scrimmage the varsity wrestlers will be autographing team posters for any of the youth wrestlers in attendance.

The annual Red vs. White Wrestle-Offs is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m., to catch a preview of the 2013-2014 Hornets.

Come out and support your Hornets as they begin what is sure to be a great 2013-2014 Herndon wrestling season. The Hornets' regular season officially begins on Saturday, Dec. 7 with the Raider Duals at Stonewall Jackson High School. Herndon will take on Stonewall Jackson, Liberty, Potomac, Park View, Freedom-South Riding, Gar-Field, West Potomac, and Freedom-Prince William.

Herndon starts the season with eight returning lettermen. The Hornets boast three regional qualifiers from last year’s squad. Wrestlers to watch include seniors Joey Reilly, Sean Pike, Bassam Estwani, junior Bo Shull, and sophomores H.T. Elston and Erick Emelio.
