Herndon Makes List of Top Cities/Towns in Virginia for Job-Seekers

Seven out of the top 10 are in Northern Virginia.

If you're looking for a job, Herndon is a great place to be.

Just this week, consumer resource website NerdWallet.com named Herndon third on its list of the top 10 cities or towns in Virginia for job-seekers.

Herndon's proximity to the Dulles Technology Corridor, where many defense and technology companies are located, was a big factor in its ranking, according to NerdWallet's website.

Other factors included Herndon's impressive growth rate of 6.9 percent between 2009 and 2011, and Herndon's median household income of $97,813.

Just above Herndon in the top slot on the list was Leesburg, followed by Vienna in number two. Arlington and Manassas round out the top five.

In slots six through 10 are Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Alexandria, Chesapeake, and Christiansburg.

For its overall criteria in making the list, NerdWallet cited the growth rate of the 16-and-older population, which shows the city or town is attracting workers; the city or town's unemployment rate; and median income.

In other accolades, Bloomberg Business Week recently named Herndon one of the best places to raise a family, Forbes called it one of America's friendliest towns, and CNN Money called it one of the best places to live in America.
