HERNDON, VA -- A Herndon man is recovering at the hospital after a cryptic text led to multiple gunshots, police say.

The victim received a text to step outside of his house in the 13200 block of Stone Heather Drive at around 12:27 a.m. on May 7, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

When he did, gunshots rang out and he was struck, but fortunately his injuries were not considered life-threatening, the report states.

Police described the suspect as "black, 20 to 25-years-old, 5’8’’ to 5’9’’, 150 pounds and wearing all black clothing." He may have fled in a black sports car.
