HERNDON, VA — Police have arrested a Herndon teenager accused of trying to rob someone at knifepoint earlier this month.

The victim was sitting outside in the 900 block of Park Avenue on Sept. 3 when two male subjects approached him, one of them holding a knife and demanding cash and jewelry, according to a report from the Herndon Police Department.

"The subject then held the victim at knifepoint and walked him to his car where the victim was going to retrieve money," the report states. "The subjects ran off when a bystander yelled at them."

Nothing was stolen. Police eventually arrested 18-year-old Edgardo Mejia Gomez on charges of abduction, robbery, and destruction of property. He is being held without bond.
