2. Moody’s Investors Service has moved the rating outlook to stable and affirmed the AAA rating on four states and 37 local governments, including the Commonwealth of Virginia’s, the Town of Herndon’s, and the County of Fairfax’s.  This follows the move to a stable outlook on the federal government’s AAA rating, which occurred on July 18. The Town of Herndon issued a news release Monday, in which Mayor Lisa Merkel said, “Careful financial management of taxpayers’ money has always been a hallmark of town operations. It is gratifying to see this affirmation by Moody’s, and encouraging to see their increased confidence in our county, state and federal governments as well.”

3. Are you getting ready for National Night Out? It’s coming up on Aug. 6. This year’s theme is “America’s Night Out Against Crime.” Town of Herndon Mayor Lisa Merkel along with several members of the Town Council and Town staff will be visiting a number of Herndon neighborhoods that are having celebrations or block parties, between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Is your neighborhood or block having a party?
