Jobs: Town of Herndon Seeks Police Officers

The Herndon Police Department is accepting applications for police officers until Feb. 1, 2015.

Entry level salaries start at $51,699 annually. Applicants must be 21 or older and hold a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. Applicants must also possess a valid Virginia driver’s license with a good record upon hire.

Additional job requirements include:

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
• Must be of character and reputation to pass extensive background investigation
• Must be willing to sign a condition of employment agreement which precludes smoking on or off duty
• Current Virginia law enforcement officer certification preferred
• Bi-lingual in Spanish desireable

The application process includes a written examination, initial interview, physical agility test, background investigation, polygraph, psychological evaluation, and oral board. The polygraph will cover illegal drug use, undetected crime and other areas of personal history.
