This new mandate includes the following facilities:

  • Herndon Town Hall
  • Herndon Centennial Golf Course
  • Herndon Public Works Complex
  • Herndon Police Department.

In addition, the same mask restrictions apply to those attending public meetings, including public hearings of the Herndon Town Council, as well as those taking place at town boards and commissions.

Earlier this summer, the town lifted mask restrictions at its facilities. The decision to reinstitute restrictions came as the delta variant of the coronavirus caused a hike in the number of reported COVID-19 cases.

The Virginia Department of Health reported 1,845 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday, the highest one-day increase since mid-April when a far smaller percentage of the state's adult population were fully vaccinated to COVID-19.
