Officer Shoots Man Armed With Knife After Domestic Stabbing: Police

The man was shot by an officer, according to police, who said the husband was accused of stabbing his wife and that a dog was also stabbed.

HERNDON, VA — An officer shot a man who was armed with a knife while police were responding to a domestic stabbing Sunday in Herndon, according to authorities.

Officers were dispatched shortly before noon to the 900 block of First Place after a woman called 911 to report that her husband had stabbed her, police said. The husband approached a responding officer with a knife and the officer fired his service weapon, shooting the man in the upper body, according to police.

The husband underwent surgery at Reston Hospital Center and was recovering in the intensive care unit, police said, while the wife had been admitted in stable condition. The family dog was also stabbed and was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic, according to police.
