Sunday was a fun day at Runnymede Park with the Chimney Swift Tower ribbon-cutting and NatureFest.
Families turned out for a day in the sunshine at Runnymede Park Sunday for the ribbon-cutting of the park's new Chimney Swift Tower for birds and NatureFest.
The Chimney Swift tower was recently installed near the park's entrance with help from the Friends of Runnymede Park. The tower will serve as a resting place for the unique Chimney Swift birds of the area which, because of unique biology, need a grooved, vertical place to perch. Chimney Swift birds are known for being very helpful at ridding us of annoying insects, which the birds eat.
Families also appeared to have a great time learning all about nature and the many creatures that call Runnymede Park their home. Several booths were set up teaching about everything from the cycle of life, to butterflies, to worms and composting.
