HERNDON, VA -- An attempted robbery of a Herndon business didn't go as planned for the robber, who left empty-handed, police say.

The suspect approached an employee at a business in the 400 block of Elden Street at around 5 p.m. on May 8 and passed a note demanding cash, according to a report from the Herndon Police Department.

"When confronted by a security officer, the suspect fled," the report states. "No weapon was shown or implied. No money was taken."
