Here are the top three stories in Herndon today:
- The Fairfax County Animal Shelter said it had received more than a dozen stray guinea pigs on Tuesday morning. An individual walking their dog about an hour away at the Laurel Hill Equestrian Center captured 14 loose guinea pigs and brought them into the shelter in a tub. The shelter expects to put the guinea pigs up for adoption by the end of the month after giving the animals time to rest and recuperate. (WUSA9.com)
- The Herndon Depot Museum announced that it would be reopening for the 2023 season on Sunday, Mar. 3. This year, the museum will feature a new exhibit showcasing the history of the Herdon Pharmacy. For more information about the museum, click here. (Herndon Patch)
- Fairfax County recently released its proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024. The proposed budget is $280 million more than the previous year's budget and includes a real estate tax rate, more funding for Fairfax County Public Schools, and funds for a market rate adjustment for county employees.
