The Week Ahead: Mellow Mushroom Monday, Farmers Market Fun Days and More

This week, Herndon Patch kicks off new briefs that will offer readers a quick snapshot of the daily news.
Each Monday, we'll offer 'The Week Ahead,' to help set up your week and plan for key news and events.
1. Mellow Mushroom Opens Monday! - It's the moment hundreds of Herndon Patch readers said they could hardly wait for - Mellow Mushroom restaurant celebrates its grand opening Monday! A ribbon cutting will take place at 10 a.m. at the new restaurant, 1030 Elden St. Stay tuned to Patch later today for photos and a report back from the exciting event.
2. 'Farmers Market Fun Days' This Thursday - Farmers Markets in Herndon are more than just farmers markets. This Thursday, bring the kids for a special children's performance of "Zoo to You." The performance will take place from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on the Old Town Green on Station Street, right next to the market. The weekly Herndon farmers market takes place each Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the corner of Elden and Station streets downtown, near the W&OD caboose.
3. Fundraising Dinner for Herndon Youth Soccer - This Thursday night at 6 p.m. Herndon Youth Soccer will kick off the 22nd annual Dulles National Soccer Tournament with a dinner to raise money for the team's scholarship program, which helps cover the costs of participating on the team for families who cannot afford the fees. The event will feature live music by Andy Hawk & The Train Wreck Endings and a fabulous dinner presented by Chef Jacqui. The dinner starts at 6 p.m. and is held at O'Faolain's Irish Pub & Restaurant, 20921 Davenport Drive in Sterling. 4. Join in for Invasive Plant Removal at Runnymede Park - The Herndon Environmental Network's (HEN) "Habitat Heroes" group will be removing invasive plants at Runnymede Park this Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. and going until around 11:30 a.m. Anyone is invited to join in. 5. Still Time Left to Sign Your Child Up for Cheerleading Camp with the Herndon Hornets - There's still time to sign up your child for "Jr. Hornet" Cheerleading Day Camp with the award-winning team, the Herndon Hornets from Herndon High. Camp takes place next week, Monday to Thursday, July 29 to Aug. 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day. Varsity Hornets cheerleaders will teach girls and boys the basics of cheerleading, and work on motions, stunts, jumps, and more, leading up to a performance for parents on the last day. The price is $125 for the week. Boys and girls from kindergarten through eighth grade are welcome. Click here for more information.
