The Virginia Department of Transportation estimates its budget for initial snow-removal will exceed $145 million this winter.
The snow removal budget comprises roughly one tenth of VDOT’s overall maintenance budget, which stands around $1.5 billion this year.
Virginia saw snowfall from late October into early April last year, costing the State Highway Department roughly $350 million in materials, staff and contractor time, DC News FOX 5 reports.
