WestJet Airlines To Begin Nonstop Service From Dulles To Calgary

DULLES, VA — WestJet Airlines will begin offering nonstop flights from Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia to Calgary International Airport in Canada on June 2, according to a release from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

Initially, fights between the two airports will operate three times a week through October. Service will be provided via a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.   

“Dulles International Airport welcomes WestJet to the Washington, D.C., region with this first-ever service to Calgary,” said Chryssa Westerlund, MWAA's executive vice president and chief revenue officer, in a release. “Calgary will become the 60th international destination from Washington Dulles, and WestJet will be our 40th air carrier. We are thrilled to welcome WestJet to Dulles and to provide customers this new link between Western Canada and Washington.”

A U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Pre-Clearance facility is located at Calgary International Airport, which will allow arriving customers at Dulles to exit the plane as domestic passengers, according to the release.

John Weatherill, WestJet's chief commercial officer, said he was delighted that his company was delighted to begin its new service connecting Calgary with the Washington, D.C. area.

"As WestJet continues to strengthen our U.S. network offerings, we look forward to providing our guests on both side of the border with convenient and affordable options for their business and leisure travel needs," he said, in the release.
