• What to do and when to expect Hopewell's emergency alert test (progress-index.com) — Hopewell Fire & EMS will send a citywide “Shelter-in-Place” test alert on Dec. 16, so don’t panic if you get that text — just follow the reply instructions. Residents can still sign up for alerts or update their contact details, and the drill will move to Dec. 17 if needed.
   

• Man found shot to death inside wrecked car in Hopewell's City Point (progress-index.com) — Hopewell police are investigating a deadly shooting after a 38-year-old local man was found shot multiple times inside a crashed car on Haskell Street in the City Point area early Monday. This marks Hopewell’s eighth homicide of 2025, doubling last year’s total, and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Solvers anonymously.
   

• Rob surprises Hopewell teacher who saved her student's life: 'I did what anybody would do' (wtvr.com) — A Hopewell teacher at West End Christian School is being celebrated after her quick use of the Heimlich maneuver saved a student who began choking during lunch. Stephanie Mullins was surprised at the school with recognition, a visit from the student she helped, and a $200 gift card as part of CBS 6’s Month of Giving honoring community heroes.
