Woodbridge Man Charged with Rape at Lake Ridge Party

A Woodbridge man has been charged with the May 2 rape of a Woodbridge woman in Lake Ridge.

Franklin Winters, 22, was arrested and charged following the incident at a party at a house in Lake Ridge.

The victim, 21, awoke from a nap in a house on Wadsworth Way to find an acquaintance raping her, according to Officer Jonathan Perok with the Prince William County Police.

Both Winters and the victim were attending the same party, Perok said. The victim went into a back room and fell asleep.

The victim managed to leave the house and contact police, who responded at 5:35 p.m.

Though alcohol was present at the party, it is unknown whether it was a factor in the sexual assault, Perok said.

Winters is being held without bond. His court date is June 2.
