School Zone Speed Cameras Begin $100 Fines At 3 Leesburg Locations
Speeding in three school zone locations could result in $100 fines, according to Leesburg Police.

LEESBURG, VA — Speeding violations in active school zones could result in fines starting Monday, according to Leesburg Police.
The $100 fines begin Monday after a 30-day warning period for three school zone speed camera locations. Drivers who violated the school zone speed limit during the warning period received a warning in the mail. The registered vehicle owner will receive fines in the mail for violations going forward.
School zones with speed cameras include Ball’s Bluff Elementary (Battlefield Parkway NE), John W. Tolbert Jr. Elementary/Harper Park Middle School (Potomac Station Drive NE) and Loudoun County High School (Dry Mill Road SW and Catoctin Circle SW).

Per Virginia law, violations by speed cameras can be issued when the school zone speed limits are active — during student arrival and dismissal. School zone signs will be flashing when school zone speed limits are in effect. Leesburg Police officers will review speed camera recordings to verify that a violation occurred before issuing a citation.
