Driver Charged After Pedestrian Crash In November: Leesburg Police
An 82-year-old man has been charged with reckless driving after crashing into a pedestrian in November, Leesburg police officials said.
LEESBURG, VA — A driver has been charged in connection with a November pedestrian crash in Leesburg, the town's police department said.
The pedestrian, an adult man, suffered serious injuries in the crash on Nov. 25. His injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.
On Wednesday, investigators identified the driver as Ross Phifer, an 82-year-old man from Massachusetts. He is charged with one count of reckless driving.

If convicted, Phifer could face up to one year in jail, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.
The crash occurred on Nov. 25 near the Leesburg Public Safety Center on Plaza Street. Authorities said Phifer was driving northbound when he crashed into the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk, investigators said.
Phifer remained at the scene after the crash and cooperated with authorities, the police department said.
