DUI Charges Announced For Driver In Serious Leesburg Crash: Cops

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office filed DUI charges for a driver who was behind the wheel for a serious crash in Leesburg on Friday.

LEESBURG, VA — Multiple people were injured in a car crash near the intersection of Stumptown Road and Carter Ridge Lane in Leesburg on Friday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. On Monday, authorities said they had filed DUI charges against one of the drivers involved in the crash.

The crash occurred around the 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4. Investigators determined that a driver was travelling westbound before the crash. The driver then entered the eastbound lanes, striking a car car that contained four people, according to the police report.

The driver of the striking vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of "serious injuries," police said. The four occupants of the other vehicle were also taken to a hospital, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the striking vehicle was still hospitalized on Monday, the sheriff's office said. They were charged with one count of DUI. Authorities have not revealed the identity of the driver.

The case is still being investigated by members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
