Eagle Scout recognized at Court of Honor in Ashburn, Virginia
Scouting America Troop 1941 in Ashburn held an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Alexander Harris. The event was held at the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Department. Alex is a graduate of the Riverside High School class of 2025 and will attend the University of Mary Washington. Family, and friends attended the event to honor Alex. Achievement of Eagle Scout is a major accomplishment that requires dedication, the support of a loving family, and strong leadership of scout masters in the troop. Roughly two percent of all scouts ever achieve Eagle Scout. In addition to Scouts, Alex enjoys period reenactments and participated in, among other events, the 250th Anniversary of the Loudoun Resolves.
The Sgt Maj John Champe (SMJC) Chapter, Virginia SAR serves Loudoun County and is proud to recognize young men like Alex. Recognition means award of a Certificate of Accomplishment and presentation of a SAR-Scout patch recognizing a common purpose of Patriotism, honor to God, service to others, and building a strong community and family. In the presentation package were instructions on how to apply for the SAR Eagle Scout Scholarship. The Scholarship gives each new Eagle the opportunity to compete for a National SAR $10,000 scholarship to the first-place winner, $7,000 for second place and $5,000 for third Place. SMJC Chapter Eagle Scout Committee Chairman, Charles Leftwich, made the presentation.
