Explosion Under Investigation In Leesburg: Authorities
The loud noise woke several residents, according to Leesburg police.
LEESBURG, VA — Authorities are investigating a reported explosion that occurred early Sunday morning in Leesburg.
The incident happened in the Sycamore Hills neighborhood around Sparkleberry and Ginkgo terraces, authorities said. Loudon County Fire and Rescue arrived to find several dislodged manhole covers with light smoke in the area.
“Firefighters checked the incident area and found no further hazards or dangers to the community,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

The loud noise woke several residents, according to Leesburg police, who said in a post on X that it was not immediately clear if the covers were displaced by an underground issue or intentionally moved.
