- Two teachers involved in Loudon High Schools' CyberSlam have been commended by the state General Assembly for their work. Cybersecurity teachers Jen Marden and Briar Woods developed the CyberSlam cybersecurity conference in January, with 400 students participating. The first CyberSlam was held in April, with 175 students attending, and a third - CyberSlam 3.0 - is planned at George Madison University on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024. (Loudoun Now)
- Nearby Purcellville's town council has voted Tuesday, May 23, 4-1-1, to contract a real estate firm to sell the town-owned Pullen House on S. 20th Street. Purcellville's town council has gone back and forth for years on what to do with the property. Dale Lehnig, Purcellville's director of engineering, planning, and development, put the item back on the agenda on Tuesday, pointing out that the property has been abandoned since 2010, and now constitutes a safety hazard thanks to its deteriorated condition. (Loudoun Times-Mirror)
- In her State of the County address given Wednesday, May 24, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis Randall discussed numerous topics, from the local business climate, to the introduction of new sister partnerships between Loudoun and local administrative subdivisions around the world, but focused most on accessible housing. Per Randall, Loudoun is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States, but, "The fact is, the attainable housing crisis does not only impact Loudoun. It's a problem shared with the region, the Commonwealth, and the nation. That is why Loudoun is taking proactive steps to provide attainable housing - not just for rent - but, more importantly, for purchase." (WJLA)
