LEESBURG, VA — A Loudoun County sheriff's deputy headed home after significant injuries from a crash in Leesburg.

On Saturday, the sheriff's office provided an escort home for Master Deputy Jeremy Krapfl, who was in the hospital and rehabilitation center for more than two weeks after a Jan. 11 crash. The Fairfax County Police Department, Town of Leesburg Police Department, and Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Police Department supported the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office in the escort.

On Jan. 11, Krapfl and Deputy First Class Brian Plaugher were on their motorcycles on Watson Road in Leesburg when an oncoming vehicle entered their lane and struck them. Krapfl and Plaugher were taken to the hospital. Plaugher was treated and released the same day. Krapfl had significant leg injuries, leading to four surgeries. A long recovery will continue for the sheriff's deputy after his release from the hospital. A GoFundMe fundraiser for the deputy's recovery has surpassed its $25,000 goal.
