Leesburg Airport Fire Damages 9 Planes, Causes $7M In Damage

A fire broke out at a Leesburg airport hangar on Sunday morning, damaging several planes and causing $7 million in damage, authorities said.

LEESBURG, VA — A fire broke out at the Leesburg Executive Airport on Sunday morning, authorities said.

No injuries were reported in the blaze. The fire damaged nine planes, according to a report from Leesburg town officials. The Fire Marshal's Office estimated that the fire caused $7 million in damage to the hangar, planes, and equipment.

A Leesburg police officer discovered the fire during his patrol on Sunday morning. The police officer spotted the blaze in the B T-hangar on the north end of the property, authorities said.

Firefighters responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze, authorities said.
