LEESBURG, VA — Several restaurants around Leesburg and western Loudoun County recorded violations during recent inspections from the health department. Inspectors conducted the most recent restaurant visits between July 5 and July 11.
Most COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.
Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

- Total violations: 2
- Observed no verifiable employee health policy at time of inspection. Per PIC, policy is not in the building. Ensure policy is accessible at all times.
- Observed food employee to be wearing no hair restraint.
- Rasco NY Pizza, 20 Town Sq #120 Lovettsville, VA 20180
- Date inspected: July 7
- Total violations: 3
- Observed no paper towels at paper towel dispenser by front hand washing sink. Ensure hand washing sinks are supplied at all times.
- Observed prepared portions of sliced deli meat with a prepared by date of 6/22. Also observed prepared portions of sliced deli meat with a prepared by date of 6/30. Foods have exceeded the 7-day shelf life, with day 1 counting as the date the foods were prepared.
- Observed foods prepared in the walk in cooler not properly dated for disposition.

- Total violations: 2
- Low temperature dish machine, which uses chlorine to sanitize, is not dispensing chlorine. Parts per million chlorine = 0. Discontinue using low temperature dish machine for sanitizing. Wash, rinse and sanitize in 3 compartment sink. Follow up (7/12) required.
- Personal water bottles stored in ice bin that is used in beverages. To prevent contamination, an ice bin cannot contain items within it to be cooled. Person in charge (PIC) removed said items out of the ice bin. Corrected at inspection.

- Total violations: 2
- Raw uncooked bacon stored improperly over ready to eat apple sauce in the 2 door cooler.
- Ready to eat TCS (time temperature control for safety) foods held longer than the maximum 7 days in the walk in cooler. Pasta date marked 7/3, quinoa 7/2, sliced ham 7/2.
