Leesburg Health Inspections: Nacho Macho, Rodeo's, Back Street Catering

Several restaurants around the Leesburg area recorded violations during the most recent round of health department inspections.

LEESBURG, VA — Several restaurants around Leesburg and western Loudoun County recorded violations during recent inspections from the health department. Inspectors conducted the most recent restaurant visits between Sept. 6 and Sept. 12.

COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors have returned to conduct most restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

  • Back Street Catering, 101 N Madison St Middleburg, VA 20117
    • Date inspected: Sept. 7
    • Total violations: 2
      • Employee handwash sink is not accessible due to boxes, etc in front of sink.
      • Raw shell eggs stored above ready to eat RTE) food. Raw animal proteins need to be stored separately or below ready to eat (RTE) food items. Person in charge relocated eggs to be below RTE foods.
  • Rodeo's Mexican Grill, 26 D East Broadway, Suite 100 Lovettsville, VA 20180
    • Date inspected: Sept. 8
    • Total violations: 2
      • Observed salsa prepared yesterday in a large container in the walk in refrigerator at 46F. PIC stirred salsa and the temperature increased. Other items in the walk in refrigeration unit were at proper temperature. Cooked time/temperature control for safety food shall be cooled within two hours, from 135°F to 70°F and within a total of six hours from 135°F to 41°F or less. Time/temperature control for safety food shall be cooled within four hours to 41°F or less if prepared from ingredients at ambient temperature.
      • Observed wiping cloth stored in a sanitizer solution greater than 200 PPM chlorine. Ensure wiping cloths are stored in a sanitizer solution at proper concentration.
  • Nacho Macho, 1602 Village Market Blvd SE Leesburg, VA 20175
    • Date inspected: Sept. 8
    • Total violations: 2
      • Observed baked goods purchased from another food establishment. Food establishments need to purchase baked goods from an establishment that is a manufacture.
      • Observed improper cold holding temperature shredded lettuce 45F in walk in cooler 1. Food held cold should be maintained at 41F or below.
  • Colombian's Place, LLC (Chefscape), 1602 Village Market Blvd Leesburg, VA 20175
    • Date inspected: Sept. 8
    • Total violations: 1
      • Observed hand sink blocked with a bucket of sponges in the suite. Hand sink should be available for employee use at all times.
  • Georgetown Cafe / Kings Court, 19 S King St Leesburg, VA 20175
    • Date inspected: Sept. 11
    • Total violations: 1
      • At follow-up inspection, the dish machine has not been repaired.
