The chase began after a report of a possible abduction and lasted nearly an hour, beginning in Ashburn and ending near Tyson's Corner. The chase included multiple crashes and an attempted carjacking, authorities said.

Officers activated their emergency equipment and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver continued into Fairfax County, where officers with the Fairfax County Police Department and troopers with the Virginia State Police joined the pursuit.

The vehicle continued onto I-495 north, passing Tysons Boulevard. At 2:45 p.m., the driver stopped at Chain Bridge Road and Flint Hill Road, got out of the SUV and tried to carjack a vehicle before he was taken into custody, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators later determined that the Hummer Daniel was driving was stolen from Chantilly in March. Authorities noted that the vehicle was initially green before it was painted black.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office noted that it is continuing to investigate the initial abduction call, and Daniel could face more charges in the future.
