• Pickup Game Gone Wrong? Teen Knocked Unconscious At Virginia Rec Center Basketball Game (dailyvoice.com) — A local teen was seriously injured during a pickup basketball game at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center in Leesburg, suffering a broken jaw that required surgery. Leesburg police have charged a 23-year-old suspect with malicious wounding, and the community is rallying around the boy and his single mother with donations and witness statements as he faces a long recovery.
   

• Leesburg Man Charged After Attacking Family with Crossbow, Knife (loudounnow.com) — Leesburg residents should know that a local man has been charged after an alleged domestic incident where family members say he threatened them with a knife and fired a crossbow at a basement door near Leesburg on Christmas Day. Loudoun County deputies responded, say he briefly aimed the crossbow at them before fleeing, and he’s now in custody with a preliminary hearing set for Feb. 2.
