Leesburg Amends Town Plan for Sycolin Residential Developments (loudounnow.com) — Leesburg’s Town Council has approved a Town Plan amendment that opens the door to mixed-use and potential attainable housing development along Sycolin Road near the Leesburg Bypass. While specific designs aren’t finalized, the change could add new homes and commercial space beside existing neighborhoods like Stratford and Fort Beauregard, with more detailed plans still requiring future public review.

LCPS English Learners Show Improvement (loudounnow.com) — Loudoun County Public Schools report that English learner proficiency is edging upward, with recent SOL scores slightly above state averages in most subjects. At a school board committee meeting, Leesburg representative Lauren Shernoff praised new professional learning efforts that have dramatically boosted results at schools like Sterling Middle, Cardinal Ridge Elementary, and Park View High, where math pass rates jumped from 29% to 74%.
   

3. Loudoun Buses See Ridership Growth; Free On-Demand Service Eyed for Sterling (loudounnow.com) — Leesburg riders are seeing strong growth in the county’s free, app-based on-demand transit pilot and expanded paratransit service, with officials proposing surplus funds to keep and possibly expand the Leesburg zone. Supervisors are also weighing new express and commuter routes serving Leesburg, plus a major study on whether to bring the entire transit system in-house, which could reshape future service and costs.
