Update: Driver Charged, Accused Of Hitting Pedestrian In Crosswalk In Leesburg: Police
Update: A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries on Thursday after he was struck by a car. A driver has been charged, police said.

LEESBURG, VA — A pedestrian is being treated for life-threatening injuries after they were hit by a car in Leesburg on Thursday morning, the Leesburg Police Department said. Authorities said a driver has been charged in connection with the crash.
Police identified the driver as 66-year-old Mary Murray of Leesburg. She wsa charged with reckless driving on Friday after a consultation with the Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney.

The crash occurred around 9 a.m. on Thursday at the intersection of East Market Street and Fort Evans Road. At that time, a Leesburg Police Officer noticed an adult man lying in the roadway.
Through their investigation, officers determined that the man was using the cross walk to cross East Market Street before he was hit. A vehicle turning left from northbound Fort Evans Road onto westbound East Market Street hit the man while he was in the crosswalk, police said.

The driver, who police only identified as an adult woman, stayed on the scene after the crash. She is cooperating with police, according to a news release.
The victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. He is still being treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.
