Plane Loses Cockpit Door Mid-Flight Over Loudoun County
The incident happened near the Round Hill area of Loudoun County, Virginia State Police said.

LEESBURG, VA — Authorities are searching for a cockpit door after they said it "ripped off" a small airplane as it flew over Loudoun County.
According to Virginia State Police, the incident happened around 9 a.m. Saturday and involved a small, two-seater aircraft.
The 63-year-old pilot was able to land the fixed-wing single-engine aircraft safely at the Leesburg Airport without injury. He was flying near the Round Hill area of Loudoun County, authorities said.

Police are searching for the cockpit door, which is described as white with maroon markings, and about 3 ½ feet long and 2 ½ feet wide in size.
If spotted, citizens should not touch the door. Instead, they should contact Virginia State Police at 804-750-8798 immediately.
