Police Investigating Infant Death in Leesburg
Leesburg Police are investigating the death of a 10-month-old infant who Child Protective Services says suffered suspicious injuries.

The Leesburg Police Department is investigating the death of a 10-month-old infant.
The police department was notified at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3 by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, which had been contacted by Loudoun County Child Protective Services.
The infant was first seen at INOVA Loudoun Hospital’s Cornwall Campus Friday before being transported to a Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for treatment.

Few details have been made publicly available, though a representative from the Children’s National Medical Center reported suspicious injuries to the child.
The child, who lived at the 100 block of Great Laurel Square in Leesburg, was removed from life support at approximately 5:30 a.m. Sunday and died at 12 p.m. later that day.

An autopsy will be completed by the end of the day by the Washington, D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
